Year 1: Paddington Class

On Tuesday, the children enjoyed their Christmas dinner in the hall. All of the children sat down together whilst the food was served and the teachers sang Christmas songs and wore funny hats. It was great fun!!!

In English we have been looking at the Nutcracker! The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Clara and how her Christmas presents came to life. We were looking carefully at a particular scene where Clara visits the sugar plum fairy’s marzipan castle! The children wrote descriptive sentences about what the castle looked like and decorated biscuits that could be inside the castle walls! After we had described the castle and decorated the biscuits we all sat down together and ate them all up! They were delicious and we all wished we could live inside the marzipan castle!!

In Maths, the children have been learning about how to make different numbers in different ways. We have been using lots of different resources to show numbers below 10. e.g. 5 is 4 and 1, 3 and 2, 5 and 0. We have also looked at how addition is commutative therefore you can make 5 by moving the numbers around e.g. 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 5 and 0.

On Wednesday, the children performed the Nativity to Reception, Year 2, Wiggins and Robinson Class! I was incredibly proud of their performance! Everyone tried their best, sang beautifully and used actions, we can’t wait to show it to you all next week!
