Year 4 – Romeo and Juliet

This week Year 4 have started learning about William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. After reading and discussing the story, we gathered together in the hall to re-tell the story through drama. After splitting into groups, the children were given different parts of the story and had to work together to come up with a short, silent drama piece that told their part of the story. The children were great at thinking about the characters needed in each part, the emotions different characters were feeling and using their facial expressions and body language to show this. After a few practice runs, we added music and put all of the children’s drama pieces together to re-tell the story from start to end. Everyone did a fantastic job and the outcome was brilliant!
