A Wealth of History

This afternoon Wiggins Class visited the Guildhall to build further on our knowledge of local history. We have been learning about the town being famous for shoe making, the significance of Walter Tull and Simon de Senlis and finding out why we have the Queen Eleanor Cross close to our school.

Kate met us at the Guildhall and gave us a tour of some of the key parts in and around the building. We saw wonderful paintings, sculptures and statues all linked to the history of our town.

The next time you are in the town centre, why not wander into the courtyard of the Guildhall and explore the beautiful statues?
