Reading Across School

What a privilege it has been today for all teachers to share the children’s reading response books with each other and for us to see a clear progression of skills from the Early Years to Year 6 within reading. The amount of reading analysis across each year group has risen dramatically and it is clear to see children understanding their texts more fully. New vocabulary is introduced and embedded within lessons which is having a positive impact on the comprehension and fluency when reading. The introduction of new strategies such as class readers, close reading, contiguous reading and interactive reading is having a positive impact on the reading skills of all children. The enjoyment across school in regard reading is contagious and the buzz for reading is wonderful to be a part of!
