Year 5 – Scary Adventures in the Park!

Yesterday’s task – re-write the passage adding conjunctions so that it contains compound and complex sentences and then carry on with the story.  We had some really scary stories to read – have a read of Oliver and Maddie’s scary park adventure.

You won’t believe this! Yesterday I went to the park. Even though there was no one on them, the swings were moving. The see-saw creaked but suddenly it stopped abruptly. The wind howled. The sun shone brightly. I saw something dart towards the slide because it moved quickly. Silently, I shivered before looking up. An outline of something hovered on the top step so I ran.

Since I was running so fast, the wind whistled past me. Once it left the slide the animal started chasing me. I dashed into a side alley whilst looking behind me. While the weird creature was still chasing me, I would not stop running. I would call the police if I survived this creature. What it was I did not know. I knew how to get home yet it was a dead-end! How would I get out?…  By Oliver

The wind howled before the sun shone brightly. Even though it moved quickly I saw something dart towards the slide. Silently I shivered and looked up. An outline of something hovered on the top step. I ran as quickly as my feet could carry me. Although my house was near, I stopped at the edge of the park because I thought I heard something behind me. I turned around and there was nothing there even though I felt something touch my shoulder. I looked back at the slide and could no longer see anything, my heart was beginning to slow until I heard a rustle in the bushes nearby. I don’t know why but I felt I needed to see what was there so I slowly tiptoed towards the prickly green bush and jumped back as a squirrel darted out towards me.

As I wandered back home I could not figure out if what I had seen, felt and heard had been true or all part of my vivid imagination.

But little did I know that I was still being watched! By Maddie
