Year 5 – The Mirror of Despair
“The Mirror of Despair”
On the wall, there is also the mirror of despair! This always shows what you fear most of all happening.
Once again, the poem is written by Pie Corbett, and he has written his ideas using the same pattern. He has kept some of characters the same as in his ‘Mirror of Wishes‘ poem, but changed some of them.
The Mirror of Despair
The teacher looked into the mirror
And saw children throwing paper airplanes.
A sailor looked into the mirror
And saw a tsunami approaching.

A childminder looked into the mirror
And saw a messy home.
A car salesman looked into the mirror
And saw loads of abandoned cars on the roads.
A groomer looked into the mirror
And saw 1,000,000,000 dogs with fleas and matts.
A golfer looked into the mirror
And saw his favourite golf course flooded.
A doctor looked into the mirror
And saw a lot of sick people.
The Prime Minister looked into the mirror
And saw his country at war.
