Poetry and Capacity

Yesterday, the children worked extremely hard at school, as they always do! The Robinson Class bubble were exploring capacity and using vocabulary associated with this area of their maths work. Water and food colouring made the learning very pretty! They practised filling bottles to a given level and then labelling them using terms from empty to full.

In the Wiggins Class bubble, we wrote some fabulous poems based on the feast from our Talk for Writing text, Elf Road. We collected descriptive phrases to use in our poems and all felt extremely hungry afterwards. Can you imagine thinking about ” a delicately iced, vanilla birthday cake piled high with scarlet strawberries,” or “chocolate chip ice cream smothered in shiny chocolate sauce,” just before lunch?

What would you like to see at a feast? I would love you to share your ideas with me.
