Year 1 Paddington Update

Good morning Year 1, I hope you have had a wonderful week and have dodged the showers to spend some time outside.

We have had another great week back in school and have been busy bees with our learning. In Maths we have been looking at number bonds to 20. We recapped the number bond facts and tested our quick recall. We then answered a range of questions to apply our understanding and completed some balanced equations e.g. 17+3=18+____. I set this as a challenge but the children all said it was too easy!!!

In English we have been learning about Roy the Zebra who can sing, dance and roll. The zoo he lives in is the worlds worst zoo and he is never allowed to sing so a boy called George helps him escape to find his herd. We had great fun answering questions about the text and then wrote some of the story ourselves. After that we had a lesson on suffixes. I had taken the paper off the walls so as a final task we drew pictures and wrote the suffix next to the word on the paper.

In PHSE we have been thinking about what we are thankful for. We had a great discussion about what it means to be thankful and the things we are lucky to have.

Once the rain had stopped we had great fun in forest school!! We played in the den, found bugs, made birds nests and enjoyed being outside.

Well done for another great week and I cannot wait to see what you get up to at home. 🙂
