Year 5 – Good Morning

Good Morning Year 5,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend!

I hope you enjoyed a restful weekend and some time away from your screens after a busy week of home learning last week.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone on our morning meeting today, have a think about what you may have done to keep busy at the weekend we will be using these ideas to play a little warm up game!

Today in English you will be using your plans from Friday to help you rewrite the ‘problem’ part of our story.

Follow this pattern:

Start with the first strange events as a sentence of three and then show how the children react:

My turn: here are some of my ideas:

At that moment, the table began to shake, the windows rattled and the floor vibrated. Everyone stopped what they were doing and the room fell silent.

At that moment, the table began to shake, the windows rattled and the floor vibrated. Everyone stopped what they were doing and the room fell silent.

Without warning, the sky blackened, thunder roared and rain began to lash down overhead.

All of a sudden, the floor began to tremble, huge cracks appeared and  smoke filled the room.

Your turn: Have a think about your sentences of three as I would love to hear your ideas this morning during our meeting!

At that moment, ______________, _______________, and ____________. Everyone ________________ and ______________.

Have a great day!

Mrs Phelps 🙂
