Year 2 Ennis

Good afternoon everyone, we are thoroughly enjoying our new topic in English based on Shakespeare’s play ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’. The children have begun to learn about the different characters in the play and the dilemmas the characters face around the theme of love.

We have learnt that Helena is in love with Demetrius but that he loves Hermia. Unfortunately for Demetrius, Hermia is in love with Lysander however her father does not approve and tries to force Hermia to marry Demetrius.

The children have taken part in drama focussed activities to understand how the characters are feeling. Today, we were able to use the outdoor space to act in the role of the different characters. The children read a short passage about each character and then worked together to use their bodies to convey the characters feelings and emotions. They thought about how the character would feel, move and interact with others.

It has been lovely to see the children so engaged in the play and I cannot wait to learn more.
