Year 4 Lennon-McCartney – Pastel shading

This afternoon, we used our shading skills to create some tonal shading using oil pastels. We had to practice light to dark tones, creating tonal shading in circles and lines and then created petal shapes to shade in. After this, we explored how to add further texture by blending our pastel using our fingers. We all followed the steps really carefully and experimented with lots of ways to use our oil pastels for different effects. Here are some examples of our practice pages:

Well done everyone and I am looking forward to seeing how we apply this next week when we put all of our skills into our final design piece.
