This week has been totally jam-packed in Wiggins Class. We started a new Talk for Writing text called The Enormous Turnip. We have done lots of drama work and got to grips with lots of different vegetables, some of which the children were unfamiliar with. We used our senses to explore them and used some fabulous vocabulary to describe them.
We have made a start at sorting out our garden area too, which has been feeling somewhat abandoned lately! There is a lot to do but hopefully, you will be able to see a difference soon. Perhaps we could try and grow some enormous turnips of our own!
In PE, the children were exploring different ways of travelling and how to safely get onto and jump off the apparatus. They are building their confidence with this and learning safety rules around the correct use of the apparatus too. Some of the children really enjoy demonstrating their new skills to the rest of the class.
The children are also working hard on their phonic skills and using their knowledge of this spell simple words. They are always delighted when they can do this correctly.
Music Bugs visited us on Thursday afternoon and the children have started to work on body percussion. We are learning to follow a simple score and building this into our performance. We also had a sunny hour at Forest School this week which was a lovely treat. We took lots of water to the forest and explored moving it from one place to another using a range of containers, trying to work out which one was the most effective. It also involved creating lots of sticky mud and splashing in the puddles!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and that the sun continues to shine.
