Year 3 Dahl – A Great Start to the Week!

We have had a lovely, sunny start to the week in Dahl class today! We began learning to tell the time in our Maths lesson, starting with learning some key facts about time. We know there are 60 seconds in 1 minute, 60 minutes in 1 hour and 24 hours in one day. We then looked at the structure of an analogue clock and used the 5 times tables to help us understand how the clock works. Using this, we learnt to read a clock when the time is o’clock or half past before practising reading and showing these times on an analogue clock. We are looking forward to learning more this week!

In our English lesson, we explored how different authors write interesting setting descriptions. We looked at an extract from ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ to see which tools the author used to help describe the setting. This helped us to see that we can make links between stories we read and our own writing, using other books and authors as inspiration for our own work! Finally, we had a go at describing an interesting looking setting, which appeared to be a bottle-shaped plane floating through the sky. There were lots of unique things to describe which helped to produce some lovely setting descriptions.

Well done for a great start to the week everyone!
