Year 4 Lennon-McCartney – Historical debate!

In our History lesson this week, we have been continuing our topic about famous monarchs of England. We learnt about Queen Elizabeth 1st who was the last of the Tudor monarchs in England. After finding out all about her life, what she was famous for and how she changed England, we then had a debate about whether she was “The Greatest Monarch” or “Weak and Feeble”. This is something that has been debated by historians for many years. We had a great discussion and used lots of evidence to back up our points!

Elizabeth famously said, “I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and a king of England too.”

In the end, we were all in agreement that she was overall a great leader and made some very positive changes in England. However, there were a few things that she did that we thought weren’t very good decisions!

We are excited to learn more about our current monarch, Queen Elizabeth 2nd next week when we celebrate the Jubilee!
