Wiggins Class

We are so proud of the work that the children have done in Wiggins Class this week. They are really working hard to build friendships and to work and play alongside each other happily.

The week seems to have gone in a blink! On a Friday, when I reflect on everything we have done, it seems impossible that it has all been fitted in to five days.

In our English work, The Gruffalo story is lending itself very well to descriptive writing. We have sorted adjectives into those which apply to different characters in the story and those which do not. Many of the children are becoming very skilled at reciting the text and adding the actions.

In maths, along with developing number skills, we have been making repeating patterns. We collected some bits during our Forest School lesson to make Gruffalo themed patterns and also used pictures linked to the story to make patterns.

We have had a focus on cooperation and collaboration too, something we are learning at playtime as well as in the classroom. A special delivery of some new bikes for our class has been great in promoting these skills.

On Thursday afternoon, we enjoyed a session of Music Bugs. This is always a fabulous lesson and the children explored a wide variety of instruments, sang, danced and acted their way through a range of songs, including one where they dressed up as the Gruffalo!

Our newest and youngest members of the class stayed for lunch this week and all did very well getting used to new routines and expectations.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and come back to school on Tuesday ready for more fantastic learning.
