Powder paints in Wiggins Class

Today, the children worked hard to develop their powder paint skills. We have started a week’s invention unit all about conkers and this morning looked carefully at lots of autumn leaves and conkers I had collected at the weekend. We used different words to describe them and develop our vocabulary, and then practised mixing and changing the shade of colours. The children had to work very carefully, treating the paintbrush like a “best friend.”

Some of the children could tell me that you needed red and yellow to make orange, so we tried it out to see if that was right! We added white powder paint to lighten the shades of the colours and painted stripes to show the variation of shades.

I was so impressed at the focus and concentration the children applied to their work and know that they are in a great position to develop their skills further over the week.
