Year 6 – Churchill Computing

On Tuesday, we had our second lesson on exploring Computing Systems and Networks with a specific focus on how we communicate. This week we learnt about data packets, this is how data is transferred from one computer to another across a network. Sometimes data can be too large to be sent in one go, so this is chunked into smaller parts called ‘data packets’.

We set up our own server in our computing lesson to transfer our own messages. The children had to transfer them from one IP address to another – without any bugs! We transferred our data packets successfully after some initial debugging and decided this is much easier online!
