Happy New Year

It has been lovely to come back to school and to see all of the children happy and ready to learn. They are refreshed and keen to get going on the exciting term ahead. We are especially excited to start our annual Shakespeare topic, which this year is from the play Romeo and Juliet. The children have started to become immersed in the play and over the weeks they will develop their knowledge of the characters and plot with the culmination of a showcase of their writing and art work to families and friends on Friday February 15th at 9am. All are welcome to this. We know from past years the positive impact that Shakespeare has had on the children’s reading and writing and I am sure we will see the same outstanding outcomes again this year.

As part of our Romeo and Juliet topic, Einstein class will be creating a dance with our performing arts teacher Mrs Buckby which will be performed at The Derngate on March 18th (more details on booking tickets etc to follow). The music they will use for this dance will be composed and written by the Year 4 classes during a music workshop with John Bowman from the Notivate Music Studio. John will be working with the children in school next Friday, again a very exciting opportunity for the children at SDS.

I look forward to sharing all of these wonderful experiences and outcomes with you as we move through the coming weeks.

As always, many thanks for your continued support.

 Mrs Fennelly
