Mozart – Visualising

This week in our reading lesson we have started to look at a non-fiction text about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We talked about how the information we get from a book can help us to create a picture in our minds based on what the book is talking about. We thought about how descriptive vocabulary is  important in helping a reader to visualise something in their minds and how visualising something can be helpful when we are reading. Everyone closed their eyes as some of the text was read out before drawing a picture of what we pictured the festival of Diwali to look like. The children did well at picking out some of the key information and incorporating this into their pictures, from the new moon, lights being hung between houses and divas floating across rivers. Have a look at some of the work in progress as the children were creating their pictures earlier today.
