Year 2 Stoke Bruerne Canal Trip
A big well done and thank you to everyone for a fantastic day at Stoke Bruerne! Year 2 had a brilliant time, learnt lots of new knowledge about canals and consolidated their learning from our History lessons this term.
We loved our trip down to the Blisworth tunnel, Mike turned the lights off when we were in the tunnel and it was a bit of a shock! We saw lots of nature too including a terrapin turtle, baby moorhens and even some fish!
In our groups, we took part in a carousel of activities. A boat trip, a lock demonstration, build a canal and a trip to the museum. The day was led by the Canal and River Trust Volunteers and they were amazing. They commented on how knowledgeable the children were and how well behaved they were too.
After the morning’s activities, we stopped for lunch and enjoyed some downtime on the grass. After lunch, we went for a woodland walk and enjoyed some more activities before hopping on the coach and driving back to school.
Overall, a great day was had by all and we cannot say thank you enough to all of our parent helpers too. The day wouldn’t have been able to go ahead without you – we hope you enjoyed our trip as much as we did!
Here are some pictures from our day. More to follow!
After a busy day and lots of time in the sunshine, I’m sure we will all sleep well tonight 🙂
