Light!
This week, year 6 have developed their knowledge of light and how we see. Having proved that light travels in straight lines, today we carried out investigations in which we refracted light. When refraction takes place, objects appear to bend, change direction or enlarge.
The one pencil in the glass of water appears to bend as well as looking like there is more than one pencil; this is due to the light refracting when it travels through the water.
The arrows on the sheet go from left to right, however the arrows appear to change direction due to refraction.
We also found out that water can act like a magnifier when droplets are put on top of a laminated text.
