Y5 – Acrostic Poems
We have been working on the poem ‘The Listeners’ by Walter de La Mare. Today we created an acrostic poem of the word ‘listener’ – here are some of the children’s ideas for each letter. Tomorrow we will work on the traveller.
Lingering in the mighty hall, the darkness swarmed – Coby
Invisible to the human eye – Harry
Silence surrounded the cold air – Pola
Tired voice cried out, “Is there anybody there.” – Coby
Eagerly – Maja
Nothing but the dead – Marcin
Extreme silence – Harry
Ready to answer – Lily
Still, silence surged through the ghostly building – Harry
