Guinea Pig Visitors

Today Emily and Elliot kindly brought their guinea pigs into class to spend the day with us. We have been learning the story of Mr Gumpy in our English work and the children were challenged to write a journey story about a guinea pig! We learned about what they like to eat, where they sleep and how to stroke and handle them gently before beginning our story writing. The children had to use their openings and endings toolkit to decide how the character changed throughout the story. We had hungry guinea pigs searching for food, guinea pigs that needed to find a new home to live in, nervous ones who don’t have many friends at the start of the stories and all manner of difficulties that need to be solved! I am looking forward to reading them all when they are finished.
