Year 6 – Favourite Things poems

This week Year 6 have been busy creating their ‘Favourite Things’ songs. Mrs Greener, Mrs De Board and I are so impressed with the time and effort spent on these songs and the use of language. They were a joy to mark and definitely brought a smile to our faces. We thought we would share a few to spread some happiness at this time.

Log fire burning with bright orange flickers;

Marshmallows melting with smooth chocolate taste buds;

crabs crawling quickly waves tumbling in;

These are a few of my favourite things.

Gravy cascading over my dinner steam droplets tingle through my finger;

Sun beaming brightly making me squint ice lollies melting drip by drip;

Snowflakes fall into my hand white fluffy powder gripping onto the ground.

Packages piled waiting to be opened,

the smell of pine runs through my mums’ wine

excitement shivers up your spine;

These are a few of my favourite things.

Singing and dancing, the stage full of joy pianos playing so soft and so gentle;

Bright flashing colours so vibrant and loud;

Grass so green and trees so tall farmers food ripening and sprouting;

Your mind opens wide pages full of adventure;

These are a few of my favourite things.

Dogs that are cuddly with smooth or wired fur;

Watching TV with popcorn or crisps whatever you prefer;

Hills that are steep with grass or snow;

Beaches that are warm with sand in-between my toes;

Being in the sunshine swimming in the sea;

These are a few of my favourite things.

Going on holiday hot or cold;

Riding a bike like or not;

Animals big or small like them all;

Arts and crafts with paper or not;

Making baking whatever you prefer;

These are a few of my favourite things.

Playing with your friends outside or inside;

Walking with your family in forests or parks;

Unwinding in the evening from the day;

Flying on a plane get that excited feeling;

Sleeping resting I like the two;

These are a few of my favourite things.

Colourful pencils scratching on the paper;

Fingers tapping on the letters on the computer;

My little brother singing his tunes;

These are my favourite things!

Beats of the boom boxes shouting in my ear;

Sunshine beaming in my eyes;

Drops of the water splashing on my skin;

These are a few of my favourite things!
