Year 5 Dyson – Decimals

This week in maths, we are learning about the place value of decimal numbers. To refresh our brains, we started by representing tenths by cutting straws into ten equal pieces. Each piece represented one tenth. We then looked at how we would write this as decimal numbers. So one tenth = 0.1

Then we experimented with different combinations of tenths and whole straws to represent numbers.
