What a busy week in Reception…

In the lead up to the Christmas holidays, we have had a very busy week. The children have learnt three new digraphs in phonics and the final family of numbers in Kinetic Letters. We have also learnt more vocabulary from the ‘Stick Man’ story and enjoyed reading the stories ‘Zog’ and also ‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’. We have also been learning about weight, capacity and shape in our maths lessons. Busy busy busy!

Here are some photos of the festive activities that the children could access during their learning time within the setting.

Tomorrow morning we will finish our learning for 2020, with several learning sessions before the children enjoy a well deserved Christmas party tomorrow afternoon. Then we hope that they all enjoy a well earned break and rest over the holidays. We are so proud of how they have all settled into school life at SDS and how they have all made such fantastic progress in their learning already. Where has that term gone? Time flies when you’re having fun, and we certainly have lots of fun in Reception! 😀

The Reception team are looking forward to starting a new Shakespeare unit in January, where we will explore the story of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Judging by how the children have loved their family elves throughout December, they are going to love the mischief of the fairies in the story.

Please remember to take part in the Christmas Reading Bingo challenge. Will you manage to get a full house to earn your challenge certificate?

Merry Christmas!

The Reception Team
