Paddington Class

We have been working really carefully on our presentation pieces this week for the celebration of our work on The Tempest.  This work includes a write up on the reports the children wrote about Prospero and incorporates a piece of art work linked to the writing.  I have been amazed by the children’s work ethic and dedication to this work and I have been to so happy to hear even the more reluctant writers say how much they have enjoyed this work.

Towards the beginning of the week we looked at materials in Science.  Many children remembered that plastics are made from oil and metals start their life as a form of rocks.  We then sorted group pf objects in different ways, some suggestions for the sorting were: things from a kitchen and things not in a kitchen, objects to help us eat and objects that help us drink and metal and plastic objects.

In Art we have been continuing to work on our painting skills to create different effects for a painting of the sky.  We used paint brushes and sponges to create different effects and look forward to looking at ways to paint the sea next week.

During Computing we have used art software to experiment making images.  We looked at the work by Artist Wassily Kandinsky and were inspired to make colourful work like his.  Some children also explored making images of the sea thinking about the patterns we had looked at in Art.

Another fabulous week Paddington Class, well done! Have a great weekend and please bring wellies, waterproof trousers and a warm coat for our winter walk on Monday 24th January.
