Year 5 Dyson – DT

Dyson class are very excited this term to be sewing. As part of our Design and Technology curriculum, the children will be designing and making their own fabric bendy bags. This week we have been discussing possible uses for their bag and considering who the end users will be. The children have had to decide what they will keep in their bags as this will affect the shape and size of the final piece. Making the bag for someone else will also affect their fabric and decorative choices. We have also explored the importance of certain sewing features such as seams and seam allowances and why these are necessary. We can’t wait to see the final pieces. Here are some of their designs.
