Robinson Class

Good afternoon, we have had another brilliant week in Robinson class. I am so proud of how the children have settled in and how quickly they have remembered the routines and expectations we have in school. We have had two amazing weeks together full of learning.

In Maths, we have been learning about place value. Some of the children have been revisiting building numbers, explaining how many tens and ones are in a number and the value of a digit. Other children have been learning about the number 100 and what that means. This group have been using lots of apparatus to build numbers above 100 explaining the place value of each digit.

In English, we have began our cumulative tale, Duck in the truck. The children watched a video of me stuck in a pond. We paused the video and thought about what I could do to get out of the mud. The children came up with a variety of rescue plans. We then watched as my family and two donkeys helped to pull me out of the mud. We learnt that in our story, the duck hits a rock and his truck gets stuck in the mud. We have been writing about how the duck might be feeling and what he could say or do to get out of the mud. It has been great fun.

In History, we have been learning about transport of the past. We have looked at how cars have changed over the years and trains.

In Science we are learning about animals and growth. The children have been looking at the lifecycle of different animals and explaining hoe each stage is different.

In Art, we are learning to draw still life. This has begun by looking at tone and a variety of pencil lines to create a drawing.

We have just had a fantastic music lesson we learnt to play a Glockenspiel to a song we have learnt. It was so much fun.

Well done for a brilliant week Robinson class 🙂
