Churchill: Online safety

Yesterday in Churchill, we had a thought-provoking lesson about online safety. The children discussed different scenarios involving inappropriate use of Facebook, Snapchat and Whatsapp. The children discussed who they could speak to about the incidents described in the scenarios, what they should say, when they should act, where they could seek help and why they should act. We discussed the idea of bystanders (those who allow bullying and inappropriate treatment of others to continue) and upstanders (people who take action to stop the inappropriate behaviour). The children showed maturity, concern for their peers and thoughtfulness in their contributions.
