Electricity – circuit retrieval

In science this afternoon, Mandela explored the question: Why do we use symbols? The children were amazing at retrieving their understanding of symbols from their Electricity unit in Year 4 and were excited to build on this understanding moving forward in this unit of work. The children recapped what the symbols meant in a circuit diagram and used this to create their own physical circuits. All the children were able to create a working circuit, accurately using wires, batteries, switches, bulbs and buzzers to connect a fully functioning circuit. Impressively, the children were able to explain how the circuit worked using key vocabulary such as: conductor, insulator and current.
