Wiggins Class

What a fabulous way to end a wonderful first week back. It was so nice to see some of the children joining with our School Fun Run after school on Friday. It was very hot but lots of fun too.

We had spent some of the afternoon making the most of the weather by learning about capacity in our shaded courtyard area. The cool water was very welcome! We were learning to understand and use the correct mathematical vocabulary, ordering and comparing containers based on how much water they held and counting how many small cups of water it would take to fill a range of different sized pots and containers.

We have also explored 2d and 3d shapes this week. The children were challenged to join shapes together to create different ones and to make shape pictures. We looked for shapes in and around school and will continue with this next week. I wonder how many different shapes you can spot at home.

In PSHE we learned to name our body parts and drew around one of the children to add labels. He looked huge when we had finished!

Our text in English is Mr Gumpy’s Outing and we have started to think of the different characters we could add to our own stories, along with placing them in alphabetical order.

With a few sessions practising our skills for Sports Day, painting our clay pots, using our phonics knowledge to support our reading and writing, our Forest School lesson and dancing in the snow at Music Bugs, we have had a packed fun-filled week!
