Y5 – Acrostic Poems

We have been working on the poem ‘The Listeners’ by Walter de La Mare. Today we created an acrostic poem of the word ‘listener’ –  here are some of the children’s ideas for each letter. Tomorrow we will work on the traveller.

Lingering in the mighty hall, the darkness swarmed – Coby

Invisible to the human eye – Harry

Silence surrounded the cold air – Pola

Tired voice cried out, “Is there anybody there.” – Coby

Eagerly – Maja

Nothing but the dead – Marcin

Extreme silence – Harry

Ready to answer – Lily

Still, silence surged through the ghostly building – Harry
