Year 3 Rowling – Harvest Challenge

Rowling class have had another fantastic week of learning. We have enjoyed learning our new model text – an autobiography all about me! I wonder if you can remember the facts from my autobiography to share with someone at home? Then, think about some facts from your life ready for our writing next week. I am really looking forward to reading your own autobiographies in the next few weeks.

This afternoon we started to learn 2 poems ready for our Harvest assembly video. Earlier in the week we wrote an acrostic poem and we split each letter up, practised in groups and performed it ready to be filmed. You learnt the words really quickly and I’m sure the finished video will be fantastic! We are going to be learning another whole class poem and next week we will be drawing our final art piece ready to display.

I have an extra Harvest challenge for you! To make our assembly video even better, I’d love it if you could have a go at making some large letters in natural objects or food you can find in your cupboards, to celebrate the Harvest festival and add some colour to our video. If you go for a walk this weekend, look out for any natural objects like conkers or pine cones, that have fallen from the trees, or twigs you find on the floor. I’m sure you can be really creative!
We will need a picture for each letter of the word HARVEST. Here are some pictures showing what you could do. Hopefully, the more letters you make, the more we can add to our video!

Please can you try to upload your image to your Key Skills assignment page, or send it via an email by next Wednesday (Key Skills hand in day).

We can’t wait to show you our finished video…watch this space!

Have a great weekend,
Miss Gedney
