Year 4 Lennon – Great reading skills

This week in our Reading lessons, we have been exploring how authors create impressions of characters through their description. We have been learning how to annotate the text with key words and phrases and explain what these mean. Also, we have had some brilliant discussions about the authors intentions and thought carefully about why certain words and phrases were selected. During one lesson, we also completed a visualisation task where we drew the character being described using all of the evidence from the text. We had to ensure that our drawings reflected the precise language used by the author in the text. Here are some examples of our labelled drawings and annotated texts:
