Welcome back to Term 2,
I hope you all enjoyed a sunny Saturday and managed to get out in the fresh air, the Autumn sun is beautiful at this time of year and I love walking amongst the leaves and taking in all the rich autumnal colours. It was also Remembrance Sunday, did you do anything special to celebrate this at home?
The children had a fantastic start to the term last week and it was lovely to see them all back in school, we got stuck straight into continuing our persuasive writing last week and writing our final hot write where the children wrote adverts for a new ‘spy gadget’.
In Maths we are now focusing on calculation and we have been concentrating on formal written methods for addition and subtract (column methods), the children had remembered lots about using these methods and were making good progress with missing box questions and problem solving.
This term sees us starting a new topic for Geography and the children were excited to be learning all about Northampton in Massachusetts, America this week.
On Friday afternoons we are also excited to now be having music lessons with a specialist music teacher.
Please note that this term we have changed our PE days to Wednesday and Friday.
We are looking forward to another busy week in Year 5.
