Year 2 Ennis

Wow, we have had a wonderful first week back at school. It is fantastic to be back together in the classroom and I think all of us have had huge smiles on our faces being back with our friends and continuing with our learning for this term.

In English, we have been changing the story of Pirate Tom by following the plot pattern but adapting the story to be about an astronaut on a journey. The children have worked hard to use the everyday writers toolkit and the description toolkit to write the best story that they can. I have been very impressed with all of the children’s efforts and hard work. Can you tell an adult your story?

In Maths, we have been continuing our learning on dividing using different methods. The children now know how to divide using grouping and sharing and have been choosing different strategies to support their working out. Some children have used number lines to divide and others have drawn numicon.

In Art we have been busy bees creating amazing mothers day cards. It has been heart warming hearing the children’s ideas on what to write in the mothers day cards to say thank you. I hope you enjoy reading them.

In spelling, we have been learning about the suffix ing and how sometimes you have to double the consonant before you add on the suffix. e.g. run- running, skip- skipping etc.

Well done for a great week of learning and I hope you have a lovely weekend.
