Year 4 Lennon-McCartney – Take One Picture

This week, we had a really exciting visitor – our Artist in Residence from the university who will be visiting us every week to support us with our Art project called Take One Picture. The painting we are taking our inspiration from is “The Finding of Moses” by Orazio Gentilieschi. This week we learnt about the artist’s life and found out when he painted this particular piece of work. We then created some sketches and line drawings of the painting, looking carefully at the outlines and overall shapes we could see. We then started to explore what different art materials we might like to use for our inspiration artwork. We explored texture, line, colour, shape and tone with a variety of mediums such as pencils, graphite sticks, charcoal, coloured pencils, wax crayons and pastels. We had so much fun experimenting and learning about all the different ways we can use our materials. Here are some pictures of the artists in action!
