Year 4 Mozart – A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Over the past three weeks, we have enjoyed learning about Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ during our English lessons. We have explored the two different worlds within the play, as well as learning about the characters and the connections between these characters. Last week, we explored and debated the difficult decision that Hermia faced during the play. Should she leave Athens behind to be with Lysander, or should she follow her father’s wishes, remain in Athens and marry Demetrius? Throughout the course of this week, we have written a setting description from Hermia’s perspective as she leaves Athens behind and begins her journey through what she discovers to be a magical forest. We generated lots of words and phrases to use within our writing by looking at pictures and listening to different soundscapes, thinking about how the words we use can change the mood of our writing. The writing is fantastic, and we are really excited to see the display go up in our classroom!
