Year 3 Dahl- Building Suspense!

We started our new English unit in Dahl Class today and felt the suspense as we were led into the forest blindfolded! We left the classroom with ropes to guide us across the playground and into the forest. Once we arrived, all we could hear was silence and lots of us wondered what was going on and where we were!

All of a sudden, we heard crashing symbols, ringing bells and shaking rain sticks all around us from different directions. After a while, we took our blindfolds off and were relieved to see we were just in the forest. When we returned to class, we used our hook to discuss how we build suspense as a writer and created a toolkit of all the features we need to include in our writing.

That really was suspenseful!
