All about the Vikings
This term, in our History lessons, we have been learning all about the Vikings – who they were, what they were known for, and what their lives were like in general! We looked closely at the houses the Vikings lived in and how they travelled to other countries, including Britain and Ireland, by longboat. We also learnt that Viking warriors were fierce – they used long swords and axes during battle, and relied on just wooden shields for protection! The children were both shocked and fascinated to learn how people lived so differently over 1000 years ago.
To finish off our unit, the children were asked to produce some posters detailing what they have learnt, as well as being given the option to design their own shields on paper plates. The children produced some fantastic work – it is clear that they have all enjoyed learning about this entirely different period in time!
