Year 4 – Rainforest Roadshow!

On Wednesday, we had the most exciting day! We had a visitor called Dave who brought his ‘Rainforest Roadshow’ to Simon de Senlis! We spent the morning learning all about the animals in the rainforest, hearing stories about Dave’s travels and adventures with tribes in the rainforests all around the world, watching him shoot a dart through a blow pipe, learning more about the dangers threatening the forests, finding out about the tribal people and asking lots of questions.

We then were lucky enough to see some live animals and lots of children had an incredibly memorable experience of holding or touching a baby Giant Leaf Insect, a Giant Millipede and a Tarantula!

During the afternoon, we explored some amazing artefacts from the rainforest, did some observational drawings, made tribal necklaces and had a tribal design painted on our arms. Each pattern represented an animal from the rainforest which Dave told us stories about as he painted.

We have put together a Sway full of lots of wonderful photos from the day so that you can see what we got up to. As you scroll through the images on the Sway, you can click on individual pictures to make them larger. We hope you enjoy! Click on the link below to access the Sway of photos:
