Year 3 Dahl – The Tempest

Since returning after Christmas, we have loved learning about Shakespeare’s play ‘The Tempest’ in our English lessons! At the start of last week, we had a mysterious scroll delivered to our classroom with a message saying ‘This island’s mine.’ Since then, we have been exploring different events within the story. Using drama, we have been able to explore different characters and how they might be feeling at certain points within the story. We have learnt about the links between different characters and the way in which they have arrived on the ‘island with no name’. This week, w have explored the character of Ariel further, beginning with a conscience ally activity. Then, we created a word carpet based on the different emotions he experiences when asking Prospero to set him free. Using these words, we then generated lots of different sentences which were written in first person. We are really excited to find out what happens next in the story!
