Music and Magic!

Yesterday we had a brilliant music session, delivered by Music Bugs. The children got really involved in playing lots of different instruments, dancing to the songs, asking for special requests, popping the bubbles and keeping the balloons afloat. They are working hard towards targets in the creative arts section of our curriculum and this is a great opportunity to teach them so many skills and develop their knowledge. We are lucky enough to have a block of sessions booked in so Thursday afternoons are guaranteed to be lots of fun.

This week we also made our magic staffs, to develop our character understanding of Prospero from The Tempest. I think you will agree that they look pretty amazing. We used a range of materials to attach to the sticks we collected in Forest School. The children were helped to tie the ribbons and pieces of material onto their sticks and add more embellishments. We used them in some very successful drama work afterwards.

Next week, we will be developing our understanding of the story further through the use of poetry.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Mrs Haigh
