Robinson Class

Good afternoon everyone.

We have had a busy couple of weeks at school.

In English, we have been learning to write a recount. The children have learnt the key ingredients for a recount and have been using time words to recount events in their lives in chronological order.

In Maths, we have been learning how to answer a range of questions using the four operations and learning about 2D and 3D shapes. This week we have been using the words edges, faces and vertices to describe shapes. The children have been learning to tell the time to the nearest o clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. I have been very impressed by this.

We have been learning about the Jewish community in RE. We have learnt about mezuzahs, shabbat and looked at special items in the Jewish faith. The children created their own class Mezuzah based on the values they think are important in life. This afternoon we have thought about what Jews do to relax. We went and sat on the grass and imagined we were inside the bubbles. The children had to think of a place they would like the bubble to take them and what objects they would take with them. We then learnt about what Jews do on shabbat and thought it was very interesting that they do not use technology on their day or rest. We had fun playing board games, completing puzzles and reading books as our own mini shabbat.

In History, we have been learning about the Great fire of London. Can  you tell an adult what happened? Key words: bakery, Pudding Lane, windy, wood, straw,

In Science, we conducted an experiment to see if a seed could grow with no water, no light and no heat. We put one plant in the fridge, one on the shelf with no water and one in a cupboard. To our surprise the plant in the cupboard grew but with yellow leaves. We then put the plant in the sun and within a couple of hours the leaves turned green.
