Design and Technology in Wiggins Class

This week we set the children a challenge to build a shelter big enough for one of the classroom toys. The children chose toys of different shapes and sizes, the trickiest one, we discovered, was the giraffe! It was difficult to build the walls tall enough and strong enough not to tumble down.

Some of the children worked alone but on the whole, there was great collaboration and team work. What was particularly impressive was their growth mindset. Even when the structures collapsed, they tried again and again to change their design and improve it. Perhaps they might like to do this activity again at home and send me a photo to show what they have done.
