Matilda- Money and love potions

This week the children have been getting to grips with money! We have been learning to recognise different coins and their values. We have been using money to “buy” items of school equipment from each other. The children have had a lot of fun playing shopkeeper!

In history the children have been creating posters celebrating the lives of Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell. They collected information from reading sources and by making notes from an informative video.

In RE we were lucky enough to have a visit from a local vicar who told the story of David and the lions den to the children. The children started to make some fantastic lion masks which we will finish next week.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we decided to try to make some love potions in forest school. Foraging for ingredients, the children spiced up their potions with twigs, feathers mud and just a pinch of “fairy dust”. Although I’m not sure if I’d want to sample any of the finished products, the children were very proud of the results and had a lot of fun making them.

Have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
Mr Seddon
