Churchill: World Book Day

Today is ‘World Book Day’! Churchill started the day by sharing the lovely new books that were purchased earlier in the year for our class library. We enjoyed having time to read excerpts and share our thoughts about them with our classmates. It was lovely to see parents sharing stories with their children – thank you to all those of you who came along.

We also had brilliant entries for the ‘book in a box’ competition – see photos below. It was clear to see the time and effort the children had put into representing their chosen book and we loved looking at their creations. Congratulations to Karen, who was Churchill class’s winner.

We finished the day with a  visit to Gruffalo class, where we loved sharing books with the younger children. They really enjoyed being read to and the children of Churchill class did a wonderful job – well done everyone!

Which of the class library books will you borrow next? Which children in Churchill will be next to earn their certificates for reading the fifteen Year 6 books?  Keep reading everyone! As J K Rowling once said, “I don’t believe in the kind of magic in my books. But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.” – J.K. Rowling
