Year 5 – Einstein
Hello Everyone,
We have had another busy week in Year 5 and the children have been working hard! This week in science we started to learn about the moon, we watched the first moon landing and read the different scientific theories on how the moon was formed, we then painted some pictures using our watercolour skills. We are all really enjoying our space topic!
In Maths we have been getting to grips with the Powers of 10, we have been counting in 10’s, 100’s, 1000’s, 10’000’s and 100,000’s and using place value counters and gattegno charts to help us understand how a number changes.
Then in English today we started our new persuasive writing topic by thinking about what we would do if we had a wand and how we would use it, we had to explain how it would be used in detail, so instead of ‘fly’ we used:
I want the wand to enable my body to, at will, be as comfortable in the sky as on land. I want to be able to control the speed and height of my body and move in the air.
In Jigsaw and our assemblies this week we have been thinking about what makes a good friend and how we can be a good friend to others.
Here are some photos of our week. Well done everyone a great week so far!
Enjoy 🙂
