Robinson Class

Good evening Robinson class.

We have been so busy that it has taken me a while to write this blog about all of the amazing things we have been up to.

We are coming to the end of our unit of work on the Tempest. We began this topic by acting out a storm. We turned the classroom into a ship and listened to sailors commands, responding accordingly. We were having great fun until suddenly a storm hit!! The children listened carefully to the sound of the storm and used drama techniques to show how they thought the sailors would feel. Then, we used musical instruments to recreate the sounds the sailors would have heard in the storm. The ideas the children generated were amazing and I was so proud of the writing outcome following these lessons. Since then, we have learnt all about the main characters of the story. We have had class debates about the characters choices, wrote first person recounts on the event that took place and used drama to show how the characters would have felt. We even wrote some spells in the form of instructions to add to Prospero’s spell book. Amazing work Robinson class.

In Maths, we have been learning about money. We have learnt about the different value of the coins, how to order coins and notes and have explored making different amounts in different ways. This week we have been learning how to calculate change.

In Geography, we have been learning about the 7 continents and oceans, the 4 countries that make up the UK and their capital cities. We have had great fun using google maps to explore the different capital cities and continents around the world.

In forest school, we have continued our learning on the Tempest and created Prospero’s staff, magic potions and worked as a team for many more activities.

In speech and language, we have been working on working as a team and compromising. The children completed several jigsaws with their groups and had to take it in turns, encourage one another and compromise along the way.

Unfortunately the blog is not allowing me to upload any pictures. When it is fixed I will upload the pictures to share with your families.

Miss Leatherland.
